As a student, how often are you up to date on the latest matters and have a good handle on what kind of writing will benefit you and meet your own level of understanding of the current state of affairs? Here are some things to bear in mind if you want to give the most out of your essays that will pass to be used as a res:Taking care of and writing out exactly what is to be said in the essay is a requirement and it must be filled to the tune of all the required information. It is only then that the reader will be able to get to know what is there. The next essay samples on evaluating online sources if it passes to be used as a res contains the particularities of the article format. In this, the essay s hould ideally be able to capture the reader's attention and make him read on.If the writer has chosen to put down a report that has already been written, the reader should be able to get a good feel of it. The lack of writing and input required will ensure that the report or the essay will be either quite dry or very light in content. Therefore, it must have been extremely effective and pertinent. Again, this also holds true with the essay samples on evaluating online sources if it passes to be used as a res.No matter how different the writer is, this should also be of special value to the writer. As it is the essay samples on evaluating online sources if it passes to be used as a res, the reader should have the right to see some of the information that is considered as relevant to his viewpoint. Frederick Douglass Book Review Essay Example
Frederick Douglass Book Review Essay In the Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass, Douglass portrays the many horrors he went through as a slave and those on his way to freedom.Douglasss refined writing skill aims at giving the reader the true meaning of being a slave in good times and in bad. Douglasss narrative is a non-fiction, historical autobiography.Douglass writes about his life as how it happened to him, the whippings, starvation, etc.The book has its place in history, just as slavery and all of cruelty does. As a slave for life it is understandable that one might want to change his fate given the opportunity.Douglass, on the other hand, creates his own opportunity; he changes his destiny given to him at birth.Douglass tells about his many lessons in reading and writing even though they are informal they are sufficient. Douglass uses vivid imagery to depict the severity of slavery.Douglass speaks of few kind masters, but he speaks of many cruel ones. Some of which whipped their slaves nearly to death, an d nothing could be done to stop it.With the unbearable inhumanity, escaping was the only answer. Many authors, like Douglass, who write about slavery, write of its severity and inhumanity.People were sold as animals, and treated like dirt.Family and friends were separated, traded off as property. Some were lucky enough to escape like Douglass, but many were unfortunate and had to suffer as brutes. Douglass should have provided more detailed information about his actual escape. For example, details showing why his master had let him hire his time, and how long it took for his plan of freedom to work. Frederick Douglass gives detailed pictures of his punishments as well as others in his narrative. He also provides good, although sickening, descriptions of the labor he is forced to do and the many journeys he must take. The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass is overall a well written

What Is the Density of Water By Temperature and Unit
What Is the Density of Water By Temperature and Unit SAT / ACT Prep Online Guides and Tips What is the density of water? Does it matter what the temperature is? How can you figure out the density of other objects and liquids? In this guide we explain water density, provide a chart you can use to find the density of water at different temperatures, and explain three different ways to calculate density. What Is the Density of Water? Density is the mass per unit volume of a substance. The density of water is most given as 1 g/cm3, but below is the density of water with different units. Unit Water Density Density of water g/cm3 1 g/cm3 Density of water g/mL 1 g/mL Density of water kg/m3 1000 kg/m3 Density of water lb/ft3 62.4 lbs/ft3 Itââ¬â¢s no coincidence that water has a density of 1. Density is mass divided by volume (à =m/v), and water was used as the basis for establishing the metric unit of mass, which means a cubic centimeter (1cm3) of water weighs one gram (1g). So, 1g/1cm3 = 1 g/cm3, giving water its easy-to-remember density. However, waterââ¬â¢s exact density depends on both the air pressure and the temperature of the area. These variations in density are very slight though, so unless you need to know very exact calculations or the experiment takes place in an area with an extreme temperature/pressure, you can continue to use 1 g/cm3 for water density. You can look at the chart in the next section to see how waterââ¬â¢s density changes with temperature. Note that these water density values are only true for pure water. Saltwater (like the oceans) has a different density which depends on how much salt is dissolved in the water. Seawater density is typically slightly higher than the density of pure water, about 1.02g/cm3 to 1.03g/cm3. Water Density at Different Temperatures Below is a chart that shows the density of water (in grams/cm3) at different temperatures, ranging from below waterââ¬â¢s freezing point (-22à °F/-30à °C) to its boiling point (212à °F/100à °C). As you can see in the chart, water only has an exact density of 1 g/cm3 at 39.2à °F or 4.0à °C. Once you get below waterââ¬â¢s freezing point (32à °F/0à °C), the density of water decreases because ice is less dense than water. This is why ice floats on top of water and, when you put ice cubes in a glass of water, they donââ¬â¢t just sink straight to the bottom. The chart also shows that, for the range of temperatures typical for indoor science labs (about 50à °F/10à °C to 70à °F/21à °C), the density of water is very close to 1 g/cm3, which is why that value is used in all but the most exact density calculations. Itââ¬â¢s not until the temperature is very extreme in one direction or another (close to freezing or boiling), that the temperature of water changes enough that 1 g/cm3 would no longer be acceptably accurate. Temperature (à °F/à °C) Density of Water (grams/cm3) -22à °/-30à ° 0.98385 -4à °/-20à ° 0.99355 14à °/-10à ° 0.99817 32à °/0à ° 0.99987 39.2à °/4.0à ° 1.00000 40à °/4.4à ° 0.99999 50à °/10à ° 0.99975 60à °/15.6à ° 0.99907 70à °/21à ° 0.99802 80à °/26.7à ° 0.99669 90à °/32.2à ° 0.99510 100à °/37.8à ° 0.99318 120à °/48.9à ° 0.98870 140à °/60à ° 0.98338 160à °/71.1à ° 0.97729 180à °/82.2à ° 0.97056 200à °/93.3à ° 0.96333 212à °/100à ° 0.95865 Source: USGS How to Calculate the Density of a Substance So know you know what the density of water is at different temperatures, but what if you want to find the density of something that isn't water? It's actually pretty easy to do! You can find the density of any substance by dividing its mass by its volume. The formula for density is: à =m/v, with density represented by the symbol à (pronounced "rho"). There are three main ways to calculate density, depending on whether youââ¬â¢re trying to find the density of a regularly-shaped object, an irregular object, or a liquid, and if you have any special tools like a hydrometer. Calculating the Density of a Regular Object For regular objects (those whose faces are standard polygons, such as squares, rectangles, triangles, etc.) you can calculate mass and volume fairly easily. The mass of an object is simply how much it weighs, and all regular polygons have an equation for determining their volume based on their length, width, and height. For example, say you have a rectangular piece of aluminum that weighs 865g and has measurements of 10cm x 8cm x 4cm. First youââ¬â¢d find the volume of the piece of aluminum by multiplying the length, width, and height (which is the equation for volume of a rectangle). V = 10cm x 8cm x 4cm = 320 cm3 Next, you divide the mass by the volume to get density (à =m/v). 865g/320cm3 = 2.7g/cm3 So the density of aluminum is 2.7g/cm3, and this is true for any piece of (pure and solid) aluminum, no matter what its size is. Calculating the Density of a Liquid or Irregular Object If the object has an irregular shape and you can't easily calculate its volume, you can find its volume by placing it in a graduated cylinder filled with water and measuring the volume of water it displaces. Archimedes' Principle states that an object displaces a volume of liquid equal to its own volume. Once you have found the volume, you'd use the standard à =m/v equation. So if you had a different, irregular piece of aluminum that weighed 550g and displaced 204mL of water in a graduated cylinder, then your equation would be à = 550g/204mL = 2.7g/mL. If the substance youââ¬â¢re trying to find the density of is a liquid, you can simply pour the liquid into the graduated cylinder and see what its volume is, then calculate density from there. Calculating the Density of a Liquid With a Hydrometer If youââ¬â¢re trying to calculate the density of a liquid, you also can do so by using an instrument known as a hydrometer. A hydrometer looks like a thermometer with a large bulb at one end to make it float. To use one, you simply gently lower the hydrometer into the liquid until the hydrometer is floating on its own. Find which part of the hydrometer is right at the surface of the liquid and read the number on the side of the hydrometer. Thatââ¬â¢ll be the density. Hydrometers float lower in less dense liquids and higher in more dense liquids. Summary: What Is the Density of Water? Water density is typically rounded to 1 g/cm3 or 1000 kg/m3, unless you are doing very exact calculations or conducting an experiment in extreme temperatures. Waterââ¬â¢s density changes depending on the temperature, so if youââ¬â¢re doing an experiment close to or past waterââ¬â¢s boiling or freezing point, youââ¬â¢ll need to use a different value to take into account the change in density. Both steam and ice are less dense than water. The equation for density is à =m/v. In order to measure the density of a substance, you can calculate a regularly-shaped objectââ¬â¢s volume and proceed from there, measure the volume of a liquid or how much liquid an irregular object displaces in a graduated cylinder, or use a hydrometer to measure the density of a liquid. What's Next? Now that you know why water's density is unique, but what about its other characteristics? Find out why the specific heat of water is special. Looking for other physics-related topics? Trailer Park Boys Article Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words
Trailer Park Boys - Article Example The interesting thing about this trio is that they represent a certain paradox, being, on the one hand, ââ¬Å"quintessentially Canadianâ⬠, and on the other, the embodiment of the universal human qualities. Spending their time doing things that are very Canadian, at the same time, there is nothing about them that might be called exclusively Canadian, and consequently, it is possible to claim that the characters are not solely determined by the country they originate from. Yet they surely have this touch of ââ¬Å"Canadian airâ⬠that makes them alluring to the audience and adds a spicy note to the series. One more thing that makes the three main characters good for the comedy is their low status, as according to the popular opinion its easier for most people to relate to someone who is struggling through his or her life rather than someone who is rich and has everything he can wish for. Such ââ¬Å"underdogâ⬠characters, according to Dan Brown, go back to Greek comedy, and they evoke sympathy since they are not hurting anyone apart from those ââ¬Å"deservingâ⬠it ââ¬â such as the government or insurance companies. Such characters seem to resonate with ââ¬Å"the Robin Hood feelingâ⬠many people have rooted in their hearts. If we talk about the story itself, the way it is presented and structured is also supposed to contribute to the showââ¬â¢s success in the United States. Trailer Park Boys is presented as a pseudo-documentary ââ¬â which is due to budgetary constraints yet is likely to stop the audience from surfing the channels once they come across the show. As a result, the series turns out to be quite cheap to shoot and at the same time interesting for people who watch it. It is also important that a lot of rude, curse and obscene words have been bleeped from the plot lines ââ¬â they simply would not work for the Americans.

Holocost audio reflection Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words - 1
Holocost audio reflection - Essay Example As far as I understood, she was a child, was separated from her parents and miraculously survived during the holocaust. Together with other survivors she is speaking all over the world about what happened, and I believe it is a great idea for new generations to know about this moment in the history, in order for such horrible thing not to happen again. I believe that the holocaust took place because of prejudice and hatred to the people of the Jewish nations. Nazis believed that they are superior nation and they separated all the people into so called levels, Jewish being at the lowest level, considered by them to be an inferior race. Killing of Jews was not sporadic, everything was planned and the system was well-tweaked. This is what amazes me the most. Thousands of German Nazis took part in it, and most likely they considered themselves to be right. Probably hundreds or thousands historical studies were conducted about the reasons for holocaust. And they are still going on. Such mass killing of one nation never happened in the history of the humanity, and many scientists want to understand what moved those people behind the holocaust. But whatever the reasons, I think this is the most horrible event in the history. When I listen to such accounts, as the one of this lady, or read books of survivors, my only thought is that this should never happen again. If we look at the present world we see hatred to other nations still going on. Taking the USA, for example, which is a multi-national country: people of different nations and religions live here. And though freedom and equal rights are claimed, we still see the hatred: the hatred of whites to blacks, and vice versa; the hatred of people of different religions to each other, claiming that only their faith is true, etc. The wars are still going on in our so called ââ¬Å"civilizedâ⬠world. Hundreds of people die every day in the 21st

Hunterââ¬â¢s in The Snow Essay Example for Free
Hunterââ¬â¢s in The Snow Essay The story Hunterââ¬â¢s in the Snow is a fiction published in the year 1982. The author Tobias Wolff tells the story of three men Tub, Frank and Kenny who decide to go on a trip to the woods for hunting. As I read on I find that as the story develops the character unveils. The presentation of the characters does not reveal much and I come to know about the characters only through their actions and I keep guessing about their real self. The three characters who appear to be good friends at the surface have hidden secrets which they conceal from each other and these truths later on lead to their destruction. As the story develops I am surprised to know that they have bitterness for each other which are emphasized in the apt setting of the cold, drab winter time. Their arrogant conversations expose the inhuman complexities of the human nature which is as freezing and unemotional as the winter snow. There are a lot of autobiographical elements in the story and Wolffââ¬Ës life is seen within the characters. The opening seems fascinating to me, Tub had been waiting for an hour in the falling snow (Wolff 1) and this draws my curious mind into the story and I am eager to know what follows. The story also makes me reminiscent of my days of hunting with my father during the winter. The dialogues between the hunters remind me how we used to enjoy Mukherjee 2 talking and making fun. I like everything until Kenny appears to be going crazy. He starts hating certain things and shoots at them. Itââ¬â¢s pathetic to read when he tells Tub; I hate you (Wolff 78) and before Kenny could pull the trigger Tub shoots Kenny right in the stomach and knocks him over backwards. But the most scheming part to me seems the way in which Frank and Tub behave after the incident. They stop at a coffee shop; forget that they have lost their notes and map and that they are driving in an opposite direction to the hospital. It is strange that with the conservations between the two friends I also become oblivious of the fact that Kenny is bleeding in the car. The efficacy of writing by the writer in relating the conversations between Frank and Tub is so heartfelt and the things revealed so shocking and horrendous that I almost forget the dying Kenny and when at the end I come to know heââ¬â¢s dead it does not surprise me much. The weakness of the story is the narration which is very distant and the speaker just states fact. Itââ¬â¢s the setting and dialogues that give insight into the characters. The story is no doubt interesting but inhuman. I read the story Bullett in the Brain and this one attracted me too . The author presents his characters normal and sensible this moment and mad people the next moment. But the story instead of giving me answers to different life situations feels my mind with a lot of questions. It may appear normal that the men who are instinctively primeval are befitting with the primordial settings of the woods but I really cannot come to terms that how Frank and Tub stay so cool and talk on divorce, lust and such things while stuffing themselves with coffee and pancakes while Kenny bleeds to death. I really feel hatred towards them. May be to get rid of persecution they had to let him die. Therefore the story really does not end but it continues to develop in the hearts of readers like me who are eager to find the answers.
